UNS: Belgraders’ money again goes to media which violate journalists’ code

The Association of Serbia’s Journalists (UNS) protested on Monday against the decision of Belgrade’s authorities for allocating money from the city’s budget to tabloids “which drastically violate the journalists’ code,” for the fourth year in a row, the Beta news agency reported.

UNS said that tabloids Informer and Alo were given some 72,000 Euros despite the Press Council finding that the two had a total of 1,529 violations of the code last year.

The two tabloids are considered pro-regime outlets.

The Association called on the Ministry of Culture and Information to react to the abuses in implementing the Law on Public Information and Media.
