Every boundary of politeness and basic decency has been crossed in a general campaign of degrading everyone who thinks differently from those who imagine they are an elite, Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic has written in an article in the pro-government Politika daily on Wednesday as carried by the FoNet news agency.
In a piece titled ‘Elite and Plebs’ Vucic messaged his political opponents, those with different views, public figures, critics and some opposition politicians that they “are nervous since their overturns don’t work.”
“Since I see that many in Serbia are scared of such a fascist approach, I will take a good deal of blows by this fictional elite,” Vucic wrote, adding he was convinced “that common and decent people will win over those who would like to reign over our lives only because they think they should.”
Vucic ironically referred to some opposition leaders and advised the audience to “just look at what kind of intellectual giants lead them: (an actor and the leader of the opposition Movement of Free Citizens, Sergej) Trifunovic, (a philologist and the leader of the opposition nationalist Dveri movement, Bosko) Obradovic, (an engineer and the leader of the opposition Party of Freedom and Justice), since the three of them, plus (a theoretical physicist with Cambridge’s Queens College diploma and a diplomat, Vuk) Jeremic, have the greatest knowledge, staunched honesty and divine moral.”
He said that no matter how many times the opposition lost elections, “the people are guilty, or media (read people), because we, the stupid part of Serbia, unlike them the elitists, don’t understand anything so we cannot bring right decisions crucial to the country.”
Vucic accused the opposition and critics of despising Serbia and said “the next time when I say I detest them it will be clear why. Because they despise Serbia.”
