Serbian President congratulates Bastille Day to French counterpart

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic congratulated the Bastille Day to France's Emmanuel Macron.

As you celebrate liberty, equality and fraternity at the Champs-Élysées, the proud French people is joined in their celebration by everyone who shares those timeless ideals. Among them are the citizens of Serbia, a country that has always fought for the ideals of freedom and independence,” Vucic wrote.

He told his French counterpart that he is the first French president to visit Serbia after almost two decades, and he comes in the year which marks the 180th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

"Your visit will also represent a confirmation that Serbia and France are on the right path of reaching higher levels of political and economic cooperation, deserved for their continued friendship and the proclaimed strategic partnership. We share the values on which modern Europe rests and I am convinced that, in your the vision of the reformed European Union, our European path is realistic and achievable," Vucic said.

The French President will stay in an official visit to Serbia on Monday and Tuesday, July 15 and 16.
