Highway tolls are expected to be raised by 12 percent in August, the Serbian roads company Putevi Srbije CEO Zoran Drobnjak told the state TV (RTS) on Tuesday.
A Putevi Srbije press release quoted him as saying that the main reason for the higher tolls is a lack of funds for quality maintenance. Drobnjak claimed that the road tolls in Serbia are the lowest in the region.
The roads company CEO said some 60 million vehicles are expected to drive down Serbia’s highways this year bringing in an estimated 26.8 billion Dinars in income from tolls.
