Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Wednesday that representatives of the authorities and opposition discussed changes to election laws adopted when the opposition was in power at their closed door meeting on Tuesday.

“They talked about the democratic heritage that they created to win at elections. They also discussed changes to the rules of parliament which they adopted and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) never touched. Those rules are not to their liking today because they don’t make room for the opposition,” Brnabic told Belgrade-based TV Prva.

She said that the SNS had not come under pressure to meet with the opposition and added that the party is always ready for a dialogue.   Brnabic said that she wants the media to be more open to the opposition “so that the citizens can see what they are saying”.

“I would like the citizens to see what (opposition leader) Dragan Djilas wrote in his article for NIN weekly. He said the Morava Corridor is unnecessar and I want the citizens of Cacak and the other places that the corridor is supposed to go through to hear that,” Brnabic said.

She said the media could certainly be more open but that she does not interfere in editorial policies.
