The Kosovo parliament will convene on August 22 to vote to dissolve following the resignation of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Pristina daily Koha said on Monday.

The parliament presidency met on Monday to discuss possible dates for the session, the KoSSev portal said. That meeting comes more than two weeks since Haradinaj resigned after being summoned to appear before a UN war crimes tribunal in the Hague.

Kosovo media have been speculating that the decision on the parliament session was being postponed because none of the parties were ready for early elections. The presidency meeting was called by Parliament Speaker Kadri Veseli who has been accused of delaying the session. The Kosovo parliament will dissolve if two thirds of MPs vote yes.

Veseli informed president Hashim Thaci that the ruling coalition has not come up with a candidate for prime minister which means early elections are imminent. The president has to call a general election within 10 days of the date that parliament is dissolved.
