Kosovo border police don’t recognise Serbia‘s passports any more, RTS reports

RTS said the Border Police made a move without consent from the Kosovo Interior Minister and skipped the usual procedure of informing the public about the measure.

The decision came into force on Monday and would affect people from central Serbia travelling to Albania and Montenegro via Kosovo unless they had an ID on them as well.

The police said that the measure was in line with the Brussels Agreement signed by the representatives from Belgrade and Pristina in 2013.

0However, RTS said the accord didn’t ban passports as a single travelling document. The TV added that “on the administrative border between Kosovo and central Serbia some families with children carrying only passports were turned back.”

According to the then Pristina's officials, people carrying Kosovo's passport were allowed to cross borders in Serbia heading to Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Macedonia, including transit at the airport in Nis and Belgrade.

However, at the same time, Belgrade said border police would recognise only personal IDs issued in Kosovo, adding the agreement on freedom of movement signed in Brussels did not cover Kosovo's passports.
