More foreign students visit Serbia’s Science Petnica Centre in 2019

The International Summer School of Science dubbed PI after that mathematical number and meaning Petnica International gathered 20 students from Italy, Croatia, Spain Sweden, USA, Bulgaria and Russia, the Centre said in a statement.

The students from different faculties spent two weeks in Petnica listening to sciences’ lectures and working on one out of six small scientific projects from biology, chemistry, astronomy, accountancy and anthropology.

“During the last weekend, the 7th International Astrophysics School, organised in cooperation with the Princeton University, Institute of Theoretical Physics from Trieste and ETH from Zurich, gathered 35 participants from Europe,” Nikola Bozic, the of Petnica Centre’s programme director, said.

One of the guests was a NASA astrophysicist Daniel Kocevski.

The topics included cosmology, stars’ evolution, supernova, the formation of galaxies and extra-solar planets

“What I heard about this Centre was fascinating, but what I saw was even better. Petnica is an excellent environment for studying and development, a superb place for the exchange of opinions and knowledge. There should be Petnicas around the world,” Kocevski said.

The Centre is an independent institution dealing with the development of sciences, scientific literacy, education and culture, and mostly focuses on pupils and students but also educates teachers in new techniques, methods and contents in science and technology.
