The #1 in 5 million civil protest Association said on Friday that the organisers of the round table discussion between the authorities and opposition in Serbia violated the freedom of media and humiliated them by stating they would send them “a recording” of the beginning of the meeting, the Beta news agency reported.

“Today’s statement by the organisers from the Open Society Fund is a clear sign that the freedom of media doesn’t exist in Serbia,” the Association said in a statement.

It added that by “discrediting media and their job to honestly report, the organisers want to camouflage the real situation regarding the electoral process in this country.”

The statement said that “Milan Antonijevic from the Open Society Fund violated the rules of Chetham House by untrue statements about what was happening at the meetings. Besides, his statement that “black jeeps and Bulgarian trains” (allegations about the ways of election rigging by the ruling coalition) were a myth, deceived Serbia’s people.”

“The round table discussions should bring closer citizens to the talks between two sides, the regime and opposition, in this case, to enable the people to make own conclusions about the situation with the election process with undisturbed media reporting,” the Association's statement said.
