One of the participants of the ‘1 in 5 million’ protest, Srdjan Markovic, lifted his T-shirt on Sunday at a media conference to show the bruises he received across his stomach and ribs during the protest in front of the Presidency building in Belgrade the day before.

The student told the opposition to not participate in what he called a farce of a dialogue with the Government.

"This is the government of Aleksandar Vucic, the government of fear, threats and beatings," Markovic said, pointing to the bruises he received outside the Presidency building during the "1 in 5 million" protest.

Markovic ended up in the emergency room, where he said it was determined that his ribs and part of his head were injured.

He alleged that it was not only members of the Cobras - a military police unit in Serbia - who secured the building, but also other security forces and said that he asked the Military Security Agency to reveal who issued an order for him to be beaten and thrown over the fence.

He complained about unnecessary and illegal use of force.

"The citizens were calm and they kept to the agreement, they did not attack anyone," Markovic said.
