Belgrade Pride Week in September

Belgrade Pride spokesman Marko Mihailovic said that organizers would not be sending individual invitations to state officials but added that they expect Prime Minister Ana Brnabic to be at the march along with the ministers whose jurisdictions include the rights of the LGBT population.  

He said Pride Week (Nedelja Ponosa in Serbian) would include some 60 events, including the Belgrade Pride exhibition of photographs from pride events in other Balkan countries which will open at the Grad Culture Center on September 9.  

Speaking for the parents of LGBT children, Gordana Perunovic Fijat called all LGBT parents, relatives and friends to “celebrate diversity and be happy or at least less unhappy” while Youth Initiative for Human Rights spokesman Ivan Djuric said the slogan I Won’t Give Up carries a personal and political message. “We are not giving up on people or values, freedom, rights, equality. We are giving up on homophobhia and the fear that they make us live in,” he said.

Organizers said that Belgrade is one of five candidate cities for EuroPride 2022, an annual event held in a European city.
