Russia is not in favour of a division of Kosovo nor does it advocate for any solution regarding the issue, but it also does not understand statements saying that dividing Kosovo would set a precedent in Europe, Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan Kharchenko told the Politika newspaper.

Kharchenko emphasized that former Yugoslavia was divided in every possible way, so how would Kosovo’s division set a precedent, he asked.

„Such statements sound very strange,“ the Russian ambassador concluded.
