Belgrade University chief Ivanka Popovic was allowed into her offices on Wednesday to talk to the students who had locked themselves in the building on Friday.

The students, activists of the 1 in 5 Million protest initiative, locked themselves into the Rectorate building demanding that Rector Popovic request the dismissals of Finace Minister Sinisa Mali over his disputed doctoral thesis. The students want Popovic to meet with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and suggest the dismissal.

Rector Popovic was accompanied by her deputy Gordana Ilic Popov and student Pro-Rector Danilo Potparic.

Student activist Valentina Rekovic said they were talking, not negotiating on, the demands. An N1 reporter said that the Rectorate staff were not allowed into the building.
