Education reforms have to keep the best of our young people in Serbia and there should be no short cuts, Education Minister Mladen Sarcevic said on Monday.

Speaking at the 19th Serbina Economic Summit, the minister said that stricter criteria have been introduced at all levels of education, adding that none of the private universities in the county had received accreditation in the past three years.

He said mandatory pre-school education would be introduced for children age three to six along with changes in elementary school education.

Sarcevic said that more than 20,000 teachers go through courses every year, including digital training and added that the country’s schools now have 10,000 digital classrooms.

The minister said that an education and science strategy to the year 2030 was being drafted along with a draft law on higher education.
