Borko Stefanovic, deputy leader of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) told N1 360 Degree talk show that the opposition did not deal with numbers, since in the false elections, figures were important “as in Turkmenistan or Saddam’s Iraq,” while the leader of the Liberal-democratic (LDP) party Cedomir Jovanovic said the society was ruined.

Stefanovic added the opposition which would boycott the next spring general elections was sure people would stay at home, while those who would be forced to vote would not have a significant influence.

He said a dialogue with the European Union and the authorities would start after the boycott.

“We should have nine months before fair elections, full control of state companies, technical government… We need guarantees that would be implemented. We communicate with the EU,” Stefanovic said.

He accused the authorities of dividing the society since those who thought differently “are persecuted like wild animals.”

Jovanovic said that dialogue was communication and the way of life, not only talks about election law.

“The society is ruined and the expression of our individual characteristics,” he said and added that “the country faces a lot of problems, but they couldn’t be an excuse for escaping elections.”

Commenting on a common question – what on a day after the boycott, Stefanovic said “it’s a political bait” and that the opposition Alliance for Serbia (SzS) which his party is a member of, had a plan.

“And what on a day after for those who turn out?” he asked.
