Opposition Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Dejan Nikolic told Belgrade daily Danas on Tuesday that anyone who turns out for elections will be thrown out of the party, refuting claims by former DS leader Dragan Sutanovac that small independent groups would be organized by party officials for local elections.

DS MP Radoslav Milojicic confirmed that some DS officials were preparing for local elections. “I am opposed to a boycott and wonder whether this is something we should all do. The current situation is the worst possible position which suits only (Serbian President Aleksandar) Vucic and I can’t help thinking that someone is deliberately making these amateurish mistakes to benefit Vucic,” he told Danas, recalling that People’s Party leader Vuk Jeremic warned of a “Trojan” who is in contact with Vucic.

Fellow DS MP Balsa Bozovic also confirmed that officials in other Alliance for Serbia (SzS) member parties are preparing for local elections while advocating a boycott which he said suits the Vucic regime.
