“More than 900 people were killed on Serbian roads when we joined the European traffic police network TISPOL as an observer in 2009 and that number has ranged between 536 and 600 in the past four to five years which means that we have lowered the number of deaths by almost 40 percent,” Director of Police Vladimir Rebic told a gathering on preventing the use of drugs in traffic, the Internal Affairs Ministry said in a press release.

He said that the Serbian traffic police introduced a number of standards in the past few years allowing the efficient processing of traffic violations.
