Kosovo’s Supreme Court received five appeals from the Albanian parties to the ruling of the Kosovo Central Election Commission’s appeals panel to declare 3,782 votes from Serbia invalid, claiming that the ballots were not sent by post from Serbia but were brought to a post office in Pristina, the Beta news agency reported on Tuesday.
Among those who appealed the ruling were two members of the Self-Determination party and one from its post-election coalition partner the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) together with two members of minorities’ parties.
The panel said that “the boxes with the votes from Serbia were brought in by certain persons and not sent by mail, which means that the conditions defined by law were not met.
”The boxes with the votes from Serbia were brought to a post office in Pristina by two men who the Central Election Commission said were not empowered to handle the ballots.
Earlier on Tuesday, the speculations were that the Self-Determination and LDK would lose some mandates and would not be able to form a government since a total number of votes was reduced and thus differently distributed.
