Goran Vesic, Belgrade Deputy Mayor, accused SBB of illegally installing fibre optic cables in the street in the city’s Borca suburb, what the company denied, adding it had nothing to do with the works Vesic falsely accused it of over the weekend, N1 reported.

“I just visited Borca after calls from the residents saying there is  the street dug up by SBB which tried to place the cables illegally. Look what they have done and left when people chase them away.,” Vesic wrote.

He thanked the residents for reporting that, adding the inspections and communal militia will do their job in line with the law.'

“This is how Serbia offered by (an opposition leader (Dragan) Djilas and (founder and Chairman of Advisory Board, United Group Dragan) Solak looks like. Serbia in which they have to earn and the people are not asked about anything,“ Vesic wrote.

However, when the SBB technical team and N1 reporter went to Borca, the picture was different.

“After the statement published in the media over the weekend saying that SBB performed some works in Borca and left chaos behind, we came to the ground and located the spot shown on the photos. The street name is Narodni Front, and the trench spreads along that street. SBB hasn’t done any works here. What I could conclude after inspecting the spot is that the works are in an advanced phase, that they have been done almost along the whole street and left the chaos Mr Deputy Mayor took photos of. That has nothing to do with SBB,” Mirko Ackov, SBB technical controller, said.

The works were indeed underway, the holes, trenches and puddles were visible, but the residents N1 talked to said they did not complain to anyone, they did not know who was doing what and why and that the workers did not speak to them.

One woman said she only knew there were optic cables, nothing else. “Supernova, i.e., once was Radijus, now it’s Supernova,” the woman told N1.

Following the untrue information which Goran Vesic published, SBB announced legal steps to protect its reputation.

SBB, as well as N1, are part of the United Group.
