Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic said on Wednesday that the European Union should show greater appreciation for Serbia’s efforts to improve its judiciary.
A ministry statement said that she told Dutch Ambassador Gilles Beschoor Plug that a lot has been done to improve the judiciary but that a lot also remains to be done.
She is quoted as saying that the Justice Ministry and Serbian government are always prepared to amend laws when necessary and cited the example of draft amendments to the anti-corruption law which are based on recommendations from the OSCE mission and EU delegation in Serbia.
Ambassador Plug said that his country is prepared to continue supporting and assisting Serbia on its path to the EU.
He said some positive steps had been taken in terms of the European integration process, especially by the Serbian Justice Ministry but that full implementation of strategic documents and laws is needed.
