Federica Mogherini, former European Union diplomacy chief, has a new job at the United Nations’ High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement, N1 reported on Thursday.
The UN General-Secretary Antonio Guterres chose his eight-member strong team for the internally displaced people with Donald Kaberuka, the head of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as the chair of the panel and Mogherini as the vice-chair.
Mogherini facilitated the Belgarde – Pristina dialogue on the normalisation of relations for years, trying to persuade Serbia’s and Kosovo’s leaders to find a comprehensive agreement, but a year ago, after Kosovo introduced the 100 percent import tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia, the dialogue stopped, It is still unknown when and in what shape it will resume.
Looking forward to co-chair the @UN High Level Panel on Internal Displacement and contribute to addressing one of the most dramatic challenges of our times https://t.co/TnXl2CHLL8
