The Istinomer watchdog portal said on Thursday that it is unable to complete its Lie of the Decade poll because of a hacker attack.
The poll was organized to mark the 10th anniversary of the portal which checks the facts in what public figures say.
A press release said that the hacker attack came a day before the poll was due to close and added that some 10,000 votes collected over the previous week were turned into 350,000 votes. The attack changed the poll results in favor of the current authorities compared to the previous governments.
“We did not protect ourselves sufficiently, that is we were not fully aware that certain structures in this society leave nothing to chance,” the press release said.
