The Kosovo Animal Rights Foundation has reported a restaurant owner in the town of Gnjilane for holding a lion in a cage to attract customers, the KoSSev news portal reported on Thursday.

The Foundation said it believes that the animal was smuggled into Kosovo because there are no records to show that it was brought in legally. “The lion and other animals have to be removed from that awful place and the owner has to be punished under the law,” it said.

The Koha portal said that the authorities in Pristina have no records of the lion going through customs and veterinary control.
