The local authorities in the eastern town of Bor signed a contract with a Serbian power company to build a wind farm on Mt Crni Vrh, the Beta news agency said on Wednesday.

Mayor Aleksandar Milikic said that the wind farm will be the first domestic investment of its kind, adding that it will have 21 turbines with a production capacity of 50 megawatts of power. The wind farm will be built by Crni Vrh Power which is part of the Serbian Kodar Elektromontaza company.

The contract was signed by Mayor Milikic and CEO Jelena Radic who said wind power measurements have been ongoing on Mt Crni Vrh for seven years, adding that it could be the best location for a wind farm in the country.   Radic said that the investment will stand at around 100 million Euro. According to her, construction will begin once all construction and energy licenses are secured by the year 2021.
