The coalition of NGOs urging the forming of a regional commission for victims of war in the former Yugoslavia (REKOM) said on Tuesday that it is prepared to draft a list of victims because there is no political will to do that in the region.

“The Coalition for REKOM feels that the refusal to form a joint inter-state commission (REKOM) means that the leaders and governments of the post-Yugoslav countries have made another historic and political mistake. The Coalition responds by saying that we must not abandon the list of victims. It is taking responsibility to complete that job,” a press release said.

It said that significant results have been achieved in documenting war victims and detention sites and recalled that human rights organizations in Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina have documented and published details about more than 100,000 victims and several thousand detention sites.
