Army Union sues Serbia’s Def Min, Ministry responds with counter-charges

 VSS said in a statement signed by its President Ninoslav Svilengacin that “Vulin brought such decision exclusively to prevent the work of the largest and the only union in the Army of Serbia (VS) which fulfils conditions to be representative.”

“We appeal with the President and the Government to see what damage they suffer daily from Minister Aleksandar Vulin’s dilettant, bully and criminal behaviour, and to finally reconsider his destructive role and responsibility for the disastrous situation in our Army. Vulin’s exhibitionism and damaging management undermine the VS combat readiness,” the statement said.

It added that “both VS and public are aware of the fact that Vulin doesn’t work in the interest of the Army and its soldiers. Over 5,000 of them have left the Army during his mandate.”

The statement said Vulin also committed a crime by firing the Union’s head and Secretary-General, adding that “the obstruction of union’s work is a serious crime in the European Union countries.”  

Later on Thursday, the Defence Ministry denied all VSS allegations, adding that “the respective Prosecutor’s Office asked VSS to provide evidence for their earlier claims, what they failed to do, and since they communicate with Military Police and civil prosecutors, the Ministry will have to file charges against VSS representatives and thus enable them to prove their unfounded charges before court.”
