The atmosphere in Serbia’s capital Belgrade is polluted and threatens the entire population, the City’s Institute of Public Health warns, N1 reported on Friday.
The Institute cautioned the most vulnerable groups to avoid outdoor activities. Children and adults, especially those who have asthma, should stay indoors. Others should spend only limited time outside.
“The entire population can suffer from health problems, while those from the sensitive groups like elderly, children and people with heart and lung diseases, can experience serious troubles,” the Institute statement said.

The highest concentration of PM10, very small particles found in dust and smoke and a common air pollutant, was measured in Belgrade, in the northern city of Novi Sad, the southern city of Nis and the western town of Kosjeric.
The thick fog engulfs Serbia’s capital, and the special attention is needed in the city's largest Palilula municipality, in the centre of Belgarde and on bridges.
