The Government\s statement followed the first meeting of the Working Group for Air Protection, recently formed after alarming data about the air pollution in the country.

The Group, chaired by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, agreed the Government should subside the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles and the installing of the fast electrical charges along road corridors.

"Such charges already exist at toll stations in Subotica, Sid, Dimitrovgrad, Presevo and Bubanj Potok and another three should be installed – one at Vrcin and two at Nis in the next two months at the latest," the statement added.

It said that the afforestation was among the Government's priorities.

One of the issue at the meeting was how to enable the city's heating plants to use biomass instead of coal and oil fuel.
