A group of migrants broke the barbed-wire barrier on Serbia’s border with Hungary trying to cross to the Hungarian side, but were spotted by the Hungarian police which fired warning shots, Serbia’s state RTS TV reported on Tuesday.
Some 60 people broke through the fence put up by Hungarian authorities and border police officers on duty fired several shots in the air, preventing the migrants from entering Serbia’s neighbour, a member of the European Union.
The Hungarian police said they arrested four people. The border crossing has been closed.
