Milorad Dodik s a classic tyrant and dictator, RS opposition MP tells N1

Milorad Dodik has destroyed Bosnia's Serb-majority part Republika Srpska (RS) and his legitimacy is very questionable, an RS parliament opposition MP Nebojsa Vukanovic told N1 Wednesday, adding that the Bosnian Serb leader is a classic tyrant and dictator who uses Stalin's methods and that his Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) is a Politburo.

Dodik is only led by his personal interests and he’s ready to sacrifice everything to remain in power. Just remember everything he said against the NATO accession process, but then he renamed the Annual National Plan (for NATO) and sent it to the NATO HQ,” Vukanovic told N1’s Amir Zukic.

Vukanovic pointed out that the Bosnian Serb leader has no one’s support “from the outside.”

“I’m a great critic of Serbia’s authorities, but even Vucic said he respects the Dayton Peace Agreement. Dodik doesn’t have the support neither from Serbia, Russia nor China,” he said.

Milorad Dodik is a well-known denier of Bosnia’s statehood and a great advocate of the RS secession. His most recent threats came this week when Bosnia’s Constitutional Court said several articles from laws regulating the agricultural land in this entity as well as the inland navigation are unconstitutional.

Dodik then said the Court must be reformed and the RS parliament adopted a conclusion that all RS representatives in Bosnia’s institutions must stop taking part in the decision-making process at the state level until the Court is reformed. This would practically block all the state-level institutions from making any decision.

The first instance of this was seen Wednesday, when Dodik, who is a member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency blocked the Wednesday session, rejecting 19 international agreements and other items from the agenda.

“He lost his mind and his actions are incredible – this tells me that he’s scared. There are two reasons for this: He promised (Russian resident Vladimir) Putin he would end Bosnia’s path to NATO, which is a promise he broke and then he deceived the Russians. Maybe it’s the Russian pressure that’s creating this fear,” Vukanovic told N1’s Amir Zukic.

“I guarantee everyone that Dodik hasn’t the slightest intention of initiating the ‘RS Exit’,” Vukanovic noted, referring to Dodik’s address at the RS parliament which he started saying “Goodbye BiH, Welcome RS exit.”

The RS opposition MP warned that this move would mean suicide.

“Every Bosnian patriot should realise that the Dayton (Peace Agreement) reconciled three maximalist demands and we should stop talking about the third entity and the RS’ secession, and we should build this beautiful country and not escape to Germany.”

According to him, a new generation of politicians has matured in the RS and they are not burdened by the war that took place in Bosnia between 1992-1995.

“The best form of patriotism is to keep our youth in Bosnia and to raise their salaries. When people start receiving €1,000 salaries, they’ll start dealing with real-life issues. All we need now is a minimum of decent people and in five years we could completely change people’s lives,” he told N1.

When asked whether Bosnia is the Serb vital national interest, he said:

„The vital national interest is the Dayton Bosnia. That is a perfect framework for Serbs in Bosnia. Only a gambler and a madman can gamble with that. I hereby publicly claim that I want to contribute to Bosnia’s development and the development of the RS which is part of this country. I see no reason why Serbs would be against such a Dayton Bosnia.”
