Unlike the US, the European Union welcomed Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti's decision to annul taxes on raw material from Serbia and Bosnia as the first step and would like to see more details, the European External Action Service (EAAS) said in a statement on Friday.
"This step could have a positive effect on the renewal of the regional trade and open the resumption of the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue on the normalization of relations," the statement said.
It added that a lot of time was lost and it was urgent to restore the confidence.
"Serbia and Kosovo should create an environment favourable for the continuation of the dialogue to the benefit of both sides," the statement said, adding The EU High Commissioner for Foreign and Security Policy Joseph Borrell was ready to mediate in the dialogue on behalf of the EU.
