Interior Min: Some 6,000 migrants in Serbia, but it won't be their parking lot

Serbia's Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has said on Tuesday that contrary to fake news, some 6,000 migrants are currently in the country, that all state institutions are ready to react and protect the borders and safety of its people in case of a migrants' waves, N1 has reported.

"Serbia won't be a parking lot for migrants, nor anyone will send hundreds of thousands of them from the European Union to settle in Serbia. That proved to be a mere lie in the last three years, as it is today as well," the Minister said.
His office's statement came hours after Bosko Obradovic, the leader of the opposition nationalist Dveri movement, called on Serbia's military and police to take over the country and protected it from migrants, accusing President Aleksandar Vucic of "keeping borders open" to get praise from abroad and stay in power."
Stefanovic said Serbia should always behave as a country with a humane approach toward people who were temporarily on its territory whether escaping war or poverty.
"We're taking all measures in coordination with the international partners in the East and West, North and South to prevent illegal entries to Serbia," Stefanovic said in an apparent answer to Obradovic's accusations.
