Kosovo's President Hashim Thaci said on Wednesday he had "essential and successful meetings in Washington during which the topics included possibilities of reaching a final peace deal with Serbia and the US support of Pristina's NATO membership, the Beta news agency reported.
Thaci added that the International Finance Corporation (IFC) assured him that hundreds of millions of Dollars were ready for investments in Kosovo's economic development "as soon as a final agreement with Serbia is reached."
Speaking about his talks with Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic, initiated by Richard Grenell, the US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Belgrade and Pristina and Trump's Security Advisor Robert O'Brien, Thaci said they were important meetings because they marked "a strong return of the US to the process of searching for a final Kosovo – Serbia agreement."
"Meeting with Vucic is important since it shows the readiness for the resumption of the dialogue after over of year-long break. It's also important because it makes it easier to reach a final deal. That's the last step that remains on Kosovo's path to the UN and then the membership to all international institutions," Thaci told a special media conference in Pristina about the results of his visit to the US.
He said he got the support of the US Deputy Secretary of Defence David Norquist for Kosovo's NATO membership.
