The Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), the main coalition party of Aleksandar Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) reported that around 10 pm last night, three masked people stormed their premises in the northern place of Zablje, armed with metal bars and beaten two party's officials, Radio 021 reported on Friday.

Both were transferred to the Vojvodina's Clinical Centre.

SPS demands the perpetrators found and said the incident happened immediately after the party submitted the electoral list, "which is a motive behind the attack."

The party added that the attackers destroyed the election documents and a large part of the SPS inventory.

The police are searching for the attackers.

The opposition Alliance for Serbia (SzS) condemned the attack, saying that "if the SNS regime is treating its coalition partners like this, what the opposition can expect?"

SzS said it hoped SNS would not ignore the case and accept the attempted murder of its officials for the sake of power.SPS is not on the same electoral list with SNS but has its coalition for the April elections.

Ivica Dacic, the head of SPS said he did not believe SNS was behind the attack.

"We all should avoid such acts, and our relationship with SNS is correct, and that's why I don't know what would motivated SNS to do something like this. The police should find out what happened," Dacic said, adding it was probably a consequence of local relations.
