Serbia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 6 - a man who was hospitalised in Subotica and who will soon be transferred to the Vojvodina Clinical Centre due to his constants spikes in fever which he had over the night.

He will continue his treatment at the Vojvodina Centre where he will be under constant supervision of infectious diseases experts from Novi Sad and Belgrade.

To date, a total of 75 individuals were tested at the national reference laboratory of the Torlak Institute, the results of which have been negative, according to covid19.rs portal.

The American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) said earlier that two New Yorkers who attended the organization’s conference in Washington were infected with the coronavirus. The conference, which ran from March 1 to 3, gathered about 20,000 participants and was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Asked by N1 TV whether he would follow the protocol, President Vucic replied that he would get tested if N1 TV would air their documentary „The Ruler“ twice more.

Vucic added that public meetings would not be banned due to the possibility of a coronavirus outbreak, since „Serbia is not a hotbed (of the epidemic)“ like Italy, which recently introduced similar measures.
