Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Official Bojan Stanic said on Monday that production in the country has not dropped because the local industry still has stockpiles of spare parts and raw materials.

Stanic, an official in the PKS strategic analysis sector, said that supply chains had not been cut had slowed down. “No factory has stopped production since they have stockpiles and purchases have not been stopped even though orders from China are running late,” Stanic told the Beta news agency.

Manufacturers expect the coronavirus outbreak to ease off in April and end, he said and added that the factories in China which were closed because of the outbreak had brought half their workforce back and re-launched production.

Stanic said that big Serbian companies were also looking into alternative supply routes from markets in countries which are not experiencing serious problems with the coronavirus outbreak.
