Russian FM postpones visit to Serbia due to coronavirus pandemic

The Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov had to postpone his visit to Belgrade due to the new coronavirus pandemic, Serbia’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Lavrov and his Serbia’s counterpart Ivica Dacic agreed in a phone conversation that the visit planned for March 25-26 should be delayed because of the situation caused by the pandemic of COVID-19 virus.

The two agreed that the visit would take place after the ned of the state of emergency in Serbia.

The Ministry’s statement said Dacic asked Lavrov for help in providing additional medical equipment in case of a sudden rise in the number of infected, and the Russian Minister promised Moscow “will help, as always,” wishing the ‘fraternal nation’ and its leadership to overcome the dangerous disease as soon as possible.
