China started the first clinical research of a vaccine against COVID-19, with vaccinating 108 volunteers, divided into three groups last Friday, the Chinese ‘Global Times’ in English wrote.
The volunteers are between 18 and 60 years of age, and all come from Wuhan, the town where the virus was first COVID-19 virus was detected in December.
Their health condition will be monitored during the next six month.
Multinational farmaceutical companies said last Thursday that the vaccine would take between 12 to 18 months to develop.
At the same time, Moscow said Russian experts started tests on animals, adding first results were expected in June.
The coronavirus pandemic has killed over 15,000 people so far.
