The governments of North Macedonia and Kosovo decided on Monday to further limit the movements of their respective populations in an effort to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The North Macedonia government has ordered a separation of the young and the elderly with people over the age of 67 allowed out of their homes between 5:00 and 11:00 am while children under the age of 18 are allowed out from noon to 9:00 pm when a curfew takes effect. Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski said that the decision was taken to separate the elderly as the most vulnerable group from the young who are carriers of the coronavirus.
The Kosovo government took a slightly different decision, limiting the movement of the population between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm and from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am. Kosovo Health Care Minister Arben Vitia wrote in a Facebook post that he would ask Prime Minister Albin Kurti to limit the movements of the population to combat the pandemic.
