Retail and service outlets in the Serbian capital will close on 3:00 pm on weekdays and 1:00 pm on weekends during the state of emergency imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic, the Belgrade City Emergency Situations Staff said.
The decision was taken to allow outlet staff time to return home before the curfew which begins at 5:00 pm on weekdays and 3:00 pm on weekends. The order issued to the city Economy Secretariat covers retail outlets and services such as hairdressers and betting shops. The opposition Alliance for Serbia on Tuesday called for the closure of betting shops and casinos.
The City Emergency Situations Staff order also completely shuts down open air markets but allows retail outlets inside the markets to remain open.
A press release said that the order is intended to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
