Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti informed European Union Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak on Wednesday that Pristina is committed to a dialogue with Belgrade which should not include sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The KoSSev news portal reported that he sent a letter to Lajcak specifying that he will head Pristina’s negotiation team which will include the president, parliament speaker and party representatives, including the Serb List.

Lajcak was recently appointed EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and other issues in the Western Balkans with a one year term in office.

“We feel that both sides have to work intensively on reaching a final agreement on all disputes between Serbia and Kosovo and to make the process as comprehensive as possible, both countries have to agree to bring all unresolved issues to the negotiating table as a condition for the dialogue to succeed,” Kurti wrote in his letter.

He added that the dialogue should not include issues such as sovereignty, territorial integrity and internal affairs. “We do not need a dialogue which includes maps on the table leading to a redrawing of borders,” he said.

According to Kurti, the final agreement should have guarantees from the EU and US and be accompanied with a package of political, economic and financial measures.
