Chinese run Belgrade virtual marathon
Belgrade 33rd Marathon, supposed to be held on April 26, was postponed for October 18 due to coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t prevent over 8,000 Chinese to run ‘a virtual race’ as a sign of friendship with Serbia, Sport Klub reported on Monday.
The ban of mass gatherings and joint running is still in place in China, so all participants ran own race, which didn’t have to be of the marathon length, but all those who took part, as well as their results, were recorded.
They were awarded diplomas in both languages.
After the race, many of the participants, including some Chinese celebrities, shared photos and video clips on social networks, praising the marathon, but also Belgrade and Serbia.
