EU's first € 5 million in aid to Kosovo

The European Union Special Representative to Kosovo ambassador Natalija Apostolova, presented Kosovo's Health Minister Arben Vitija with the first instalment of the bloc's aid to Pristina worth five million Euro for fighting the coronavirus pandemic, the Beta news agency reported on Thursday.

The aid consists of 1.4 million different protective gloves, 4.000 visors, 3,000 goggles, 4,000 litres of disinfection liquid, 10,000 bedsheets and 50 boxes for lab samples transport.

"This is the moment when we can provide the EU concrete aid to Kosovo," Apostolova said.

She added that the bloc thus met its promise from March after the outburst of the epidemic in Kosovo.

 The rest of the medical aid would include ventilators, infusion pumps, emergency service vehicles, and other necessary goods.

Besides, the EU is preparing some 63 million Euro as mid-term social-economic grant and around 100 million in loan for Kosovo's macro-economic needs.
