Cafes and restaurants reopened, and railway and local transport restarted in some Serbia's cities on Monday, after the authorities eased several of the anti-coronavirus measures, but the state of emergency, including the curfew, remained in place, probably until Thursday, N1 reported.

In Belgrade and the northern city of Novi Sad many cafes opened to potential customers, with, as they said, all prescribed protective measures both for customers and employees, but said not many people used the chance to relax in them on the first day.

Some owners said they would remain closed since the interest was low.

A similar situation was in Novi Sad with only a few people in cafes, whose owners said they expected more guests, believing people missed sitting in outdoor or indoor cafes. However, the first day showed a different mood.

City transport also restarted in the city. The protective measures are in place – the drivers wear protective gear, they won't sell tickets, a controller will ride on every bus, passengers will have to wear masks and gloves

In the central city of Kragujevac, people will also be able to use public transport again. In the first phase, the transport will be available to the employees and parents with children who must go to kindergartens. The passengers will also have to wear masks and gloves, and won't be allowed in without them.

The railway transport also runs again with the first train between Belgrade and Nis and 74 departures planned on Monday. The passengers will also have to stick to the preventive measures.
