In a phone conversation, Vucic thanked the European Union for substantial aid to the people of Serbia, adding Belgrade continued with reforms in the process of joining the bloc.

According to Vucic's office press release, Michel praised Serbia's solidarity in aid it sent to Italy and the Western Balkans.

The press release quoted Michel as saying that the EU was committed to the Western Balkans' European perspective and further empowering of the political, economic and social reforms in the region

He recalled that the Union allocated 3.3 billion Euro in aid to the regional countries facing coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, some European leaders expressed concern about highly promoted aid from China and Russia, adding Belgrade almost ignored the EU help, despite the latter was more significant and lasted for decades, especially to the country's health care system.
