The leader of the opposition nationalist Dveri movement Bosko Obradovic told N1 on Tuesday, the response he received from the state RTS TV to his request for 60 minutes of prime airtime to explain why he was on hunger strike for days, was 'shameful, tragic and sad.'

He added that it was "significant that both Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic and an anonymous author of the RTS statement reacted at the same time," despite he sent five requests to the authorities and the TV days ago.

The statement accused Obradovic of continually trying to be "an illegal and unelected RTS news programme editor-in-chief," adding it would inform the European Parliament and journalists' associations "about your constant endangerment of the public broadcaster RTS independence."

The statement said it reported on his hunger strike professionally and timely, adding that "RTS is trying not to take part in the political game which becomes a gladiators' arena."

RTS also expressed concern about Obradovic health after ten days of hunger strike.

Obradovic said the statement was logical "since Vucic could be considered the RTS news programme editor."

"It (the statement) is the climax of dishonesty in RTS journalist profession, and it's not by chance that the author is anonymous because perhaps no one with a bit of honour would dare to sign something like this," Obradovic said.
