Heavy storm hits central Serbia

N1

A heavy storm hit parts of central Serbia on Tuesday with hail destroying crops and bringing down trees.

The storm tore branches off trees, destroyed greenhouses, broke roof tiles and left some of the villages around Studenica and Vrnjacka Banja without electricity. Local authorities said that 40 liters of rain per square meter fell during the hour-long storm. Local roads were flooded as were some houses. A Studenica resident said that he had never seen bigger hailstones.

The Vrnjacka Banja spa was flooded by the heavy rain with up to half a meter of water on the roads.
