The opposition '1 in 5 million' movement warned the public on Monday about what they said was "a new secretly organised hoax by (Serbia's President) Aleksandar Vucic's regime to directly bring to power the Serbian Rightists party and (its leader) Misa Vacic at the local level in 48 towns and municipalities," the Beta news agency reported.

The movement said that Vucic intended to "install those compared to whom he appears as a lesser evil, conciliator and transformed European."
"The pro-regime media received a decree to ignore the Serbian Rightists' activities aiming to convince the public that this regime's project has failed," the movement said in a statement.
It added that in the background, the activities were going on to give Vacic local power in 48 towns and municipalities across Serbia.
"The (ruling Serbian Progressive Party) SNS (also headed by Vucic) utilised its machinery to deliver 60,000 signatures to Vacic's electoral lists, and then the votes for him."
The statement recalled that the same scenario had already been used in the southwest Medvedja municipality, a part of Sandzak region with a Serb majority, when, according to '1in 5 million', 6.52 votes were 'borrowed' to the Serbian Rightists who then became a part of the local administration.
