Five TVs with national frequency and N1 TV have respected the legal obligation to report about the ongoing election campaign in Serbia, and only three – state RTS TV, B92 and N1 – have had particular air time about the ballot, the FoNet news agency reported on Friday.

According to the Center for Election Monitoring (CPI) survey done last week, those six TV channels have increased the air time with the election campaign topics.

However, between 70 and 90 percent of their programmes are about other issues.

The tone of the reports on political players differs depending on a TV channel, with some reporting mostly in a neutral tone, while others tend to be either more positive or more negative.

The CPI has monitored the activities of the state officials as well, adding they have not been treated as a part of the election campaign since, according to the Centre, the officials haven’t talked about the election issues.

The press has mostly equally presented the political players, except for the Kurir tabloid, which has reported about only three electoral lists.

CPI also said it would organise exit polls on the election day on 40 polling stations in the Belgrade Vozdovac municipality and would monitor voting at some 300 places in Serbia.

That will be the first time that any organisation will conduct exit polls in Serbia.
