Parliament Speaker Vjosa Osmani said on Monday that Kosovo is not ready to engage in the kind of dialogue being advocated by President Hashim Thaci which includes secret negotiations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

She warned that those secret negotiations would open issues which are dangerous to the peace and stability of the region. Speaking after a meeting of the Parliament Presidency, Osmani said that Thaci should guarantee that he will never put “a millimeter of Kosovo territory” on the negotiating table and say whether he has given up the dangerous idea of border changes.

“Ideas like those divide Kosovo and are fundamentally opposed to the project of an independent and sovereign state and Kosovo is not prepared for that dialogue,” she said, recalling that parliament’s resolution on the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue defined the red lines which must not be crossed such as territorial integrity, sovereignty and constitutional order.
